Great Mullein (Verbascum thapsus) also known as wooly Mullein is one of my favorite herbs that we use for multiple reasons including migraines and inflammation & earaches. But however, mainly to help aid the respiratory system (asthma) which Mullein has worked wonders for my family. It works as an expectorant which helps to loosen bronchial secretions that eliminates the mucus within the body.
The great mullein, is a native to Europe, northern Africa, and Asia, and was also introduced to Australia and America. It found in roadsides, meadows, and pasture lands. It the cutest hairy biennial plant that’s about 2m taller or larger.
However, when it comes to utilizing Great Mullein for Respiratory system the relief properties of mullein could be explained by its antitussive and expectorant activities, which could be justified by the presence of mucilages in these species it tract pathologies treated with mullein have different etiologies (hoarseness, tonsilitis, colds, coughs, asthma, bronchitis, and even hemoptysis) and treatments, but all have a common features.
Mullein’s active ingredient Coumarins may potential the action of anticoagulants such as aspirin.
